Day Off In Tome, Japan

Today is my day off so I and two others hitched a ride to the Tome Mall area.  We had a good time of window shopping and lunch.  It is fun to see all the different stuff they have in the stores here.

We ate lunch at Marumatsu Japanese Restaurant.  I let the choice up to the other guys and I am glad they picked this restaurant.

We had my favorite meal here in Japan, Tonkatsu.

Here is Justin Glick and me enjoying our meal.

We took a cab back to the base.  We had directions give to us by one of our Japanese staff, but, calling the cab company, trying to give directions, etc. was fun. Got back to the base camp and there are only a handful of us here.  All the others are gone for the day sightseeing, or working.

I just got permission to take next Friday off to go to Tokyo to visit with John.  I am planning on leaving right from work on Thursday night and should arrive late in Shinjuku.  I am excited about seeing both John and Tokyo again.

Friday, Day Five on Green House

Today I completed the kitchen area, and started to hang wallboard in other rooms.  The house is going well and we anticipate will be done with this house by Tuesday.  Yesterday, 5 more men from Baptist Men arrived to help and we were to get 12 more today.  The bunk area is really full to over flow.

After work today our team went to a Japanese Bath House.  What a blessing. Was nice to get a good bath and enjoy the hot whirlpool.  We got back to camp late but was able to still get something to eat.  Not sure what tomorrow will bring.  I would like to go to town but seats in the van is limited.

Day Four Working on Green House

We are making headway.  In a few days we will have this home complete and move on to the next home.  They are closing the operation here at the end of April and hope to have 400 homes completed by then.  To date we have 343 completed, and working on 24 homes.  I have been hanging plywood in the kitchen where they will have cabinets and wallboard for the rest of the room.  It is hard work but fun, and the satisfaction that I am able to make a difference in someone else life.
